What is MEECA? Metro East Early College Academy Would you like to earn college credit and high school credit at the same time? If so, Metro East Early College Academy (MEECA) may be for you. If you will be in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade at the start of school next Fall and are on track to graduate on time, you could be eligible to earn credit at Mt. Hood Community College and high school credit at the same time. Starting in the Fall of 2012, MEECA will pay tuition and fees for up to $1,250 per each of the 3 terms of Fall, Winter, and Spring for eligible students. MEECA students are expected to register for at least 12 college credits per term and all courses must count toward the completion of the high school diploma. In addition, MEECA provides $100 per term for books and course related materials. Students will attend courses on the college campus. MEECA primarily serves early college students attending Mt. Hood Community College. Requirements: You should be on track to graduate with your class and meet minimum standards in credits and performance. The credit requirements are: end of grade 9 with 6 credits, end of grade 10 with 12.0 credits, and end of grade 11 with 18 credits. MEECA cannot award credit for home-school work. MEECA eligibility also requires placing proficient on the College Placement Test at Mt. Hood Community College; you will take your College Placement Test by June 1st 2012.
